Hi, I’m Jenia
(she/her)
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Washington. With years of experience in nursing supporting individuals through mental health challenges, the postpartum period, acute traumatic experiences, and ketamine-assisted therapy, I understand the tremendous impact that compassionate, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care can have.
Before becoming a PMHNP, I had the profound honor of working for six years as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where I cared for medically fragile newborns and walked alongside their parents and guardians through experiences of trauma and uncertainty, and also grief and loss. The trust these families placed in me was an enormous gift — one that deepened my commitment to compassionate, whole-person care and ultimately led me to pursue a career in psychiatry. My time in the NICU also gave me a lasting appreciation for the vital role early attachment plays in shaping mental health throughout the lifespan, offering insights into how we develop, connect, and heal.
As a Third Culture Kid - people who were raised in a culture other than their parents - I have a unique perspective on issues of identity, belonging, and cultural adaptation. My work in the NICU has informed my approach to working with individuals experiencing acute trauma and bereavement. My practice is LGBTQIA+ and gender-affirming, rooted in a culture of consent, weight-neutrality and the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES), feminism, sex positivity, and radical self-acceptance.
Whether you're seeking support for depression, anxiety, PTSD, cPTSD, grief, attachment wounds, or psychedelic integration, I provide a safe, collaborative space for healing. Together, we will build a treatment path that is not only effective but deeply aligned with your needs, values, and long-term well-being.
I’m trained in Ketamine Assisted Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for adults and those with trauma. I'm currently in the process of attaining Level 1 training in the Hakomi Method (mindfulness-centered somatic psychotherapy).
I prefer to view humans through a human lens rather than through a diagnostic manual. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to connect with you and find out more about your mental health goals.
In gratitude,
Dr. Jenia Malysh, DNP, ARNP, PMHNP-BC
